An artist that dreams about a sustainable future

Simpon Gripenberg is a Jakobstad-based artist, graphical designer and lecturer. His main artistic language is sculpting, but he prefers to work inter-disciplinarily, i.e. combining different techniques and materials. His creativity is often empiric in combination with natural science and technology, and natural elements. He has also studied mechanical engineering, which also can be seen in his art. Simon prefers slowness and argues that a changes in our ways of thinking and our behavior are more important than technological progress, although both are needed.

Simon approaches sustainability issues from many different angles; social, economic, cultural, and environmental. He is critical but at the same time constructive and he suggests alternative lines of thought and possible solutions.
